We are an international group, the Diarchy Collective: Klára Petra Szabó, Hungary and Florian Lang, Austria.

The idea is to build different birdhouses, connect them with wires. Klára builded three houses and Florian bulided four another. All decisions concerning the drafts are made according to a prior agreement as a team. 

The birdhouses represent the wish of designing the own place by own visions. It refers to the attempt to create the personal ideal place. A little homemade paradise on earth and the birdhouse gets a metaphor for that way of living. The hole, the typical entrance of a birdhouse and other cuts in the facades like windows and doors are turning into spy-holes that are providing to gaze behind the facades and transform the recipient into a voyeur.

Thoughts by Florian Lang:

Sometimes home sweet home ain't that sweet anymore. It turns into the golden cage or into the venue of personal misery and fear. Then its inhabitants are getting “Birds in Blue” (blue: another expression for being sad)  

A beautiful facade is distracting from the things that are happening indoors. Wars of roses, domestic violence, alcoholism, financial misery etc are kept secret behind looked doors. 

But it's not intended to point with our artistic fingers at other people. Anyway everybody suppose to knows his personal homemade hell. Instead we are going to use our personal home - experiences and stories to interweave them in „Birds in Blue“ to an artistic dream/ nightmare.

The center part of the project is to create suspension in between the idea of a homemade paradise and the creation of a homemade hell.
